Founded in 1996, Woodforde’s Perfumery is a connoisseur’s perfume shop located in Church Street, Sidmouth. Focused upon select, exclusive, artisan perfumes, we showcase the very latest creations from the world’s foremost perfumery ‘noses’, uncompromisingly insistent that a discernible quality of raw material and artistic flair will empower you to wear and project the very last word in unique, personalised, and exclusive luxury.
Our Perfumes
Luxury is not easy to define, but it is easy to recognise. It is not merely equated with price and isn't just the veneer of richness or opulence. Luxury isn't vulgar or showy: luxury is grounded in, and derives from, craftsmanship. It is the handmade product, tailored for the few, the finest materials skilfully stitched together by the master craftsman or woman. Luxury is style. It is exclusivity. It is rarity and quality. And it is elevation above the ordinary.
Luxury is the undiscovered, the secret ambit of those in the know. Neither intended for nor available to all, luxury is made for and embraced by leaders not followers. Luxury perfumes, sourced from France, Italy and beyond, arrive on our shelves from the few remaining truly authentic small independent perfume houses. Many owned and run by the perfumers themselves, these generational inheritors of the hand-made, natural-ingredient, slow-maceration tradition of perfume production still source the very best natural ingredients from around the world, standing out in their complexity, clarity and beauty. Unique, individual and distinctive, they embody the creative vision of the perfumer as an artist in scent alchemy, offering you the opportunity of true individuality in world where everyone (else) is wearing the same.
Our Shop
Due to the small-batch, hand-crafted nature of our supply chains, we do not offer a click-to-buy website so you’ll have to push a door handle rather than a mouse button. However, your visit to our shop offers a unique shopping experience where individual attention will personally direct your journey through our exceptional curated collection of female, male and ungendered fragrances.
Like the creation of our perfumes, this is an unhurried and pressure-free selection process. You are in control. Shortlist, test, evaluate, buy, or don’t buy. Take you time. Real perfume is not mere elevator music, something ‘nice’ playing in the background. It has the power to project breathtaking beauty, nuanced sophistication, or alluring mystery, a statement to the world of who you are and how you want to be seen.
To avoid disappointment (if not already apparent) please note that no high street or department store brands are stocked, we do not make perfume, and we do not source nor recreate discontinued scents.
